Jim Corbett is one of the oldest national parks in India. And is one of the best national reserves in India for wildlife and nature lovers.
The national park is also known for its Tiger Reserve project to conserve wildlife. As a result of this initiative, there are more than 250+ tigers here.
It is located on the foothills of the beautiful Himalayas in Uttarakhand.
Due to its proximity to Delhi, it attracts many tourists and is one of the most popular weekend gateways from Delhi NCR.
Due to the increasing number of tourists year after year, the national park is divided into 6 zones to streamline tourism.
Dhikala – It is one of the finest zones with deep forests and lush green trees. Both Jeep and elephant safari are available in this zone.
Bijrani – This zone is one of the most tiger-rich areas. The chances of sighting a tiger here are pretty high. In this zone also, both Jeep and elephant safari are available.
Jhirna – The zone is known for its beautiful landscape and variety of flora and fauna.
Durga Devi – It is a hill safari zone. It has many wild elephants, though tiger sighting is low.
Sonanadi
Dhela – It is the newest zone added to cater to increasing tourism
There is also a buffer zone outside the Corbett Tiger Reserve area known as the Sitabani Forest Zone. Though the Tiger and leopard sighting is rare, however, it is a paradise for bird watchers with more than 600 species of birds.
